Severe Thunderstorm Warning Now Cancelled For Fairfield County
Severe weather is moving through Fairfield County this evening. Motorists are urged to take precaution while driving.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT — A Special Weather Statement was issued for all of Fairfield County as heavy rain and thunderstorms moved through the area this evening, the National Weather Service says. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning had been issued until 10 p.m. as strong storm featuring heavy rain and thunder and lighting were moving across the western part of the state.
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning expired as of 10 p.m. and no warnings or advisories are still in effect.
The National Weather Service says that a strong thunderstorm will affect central Fairfield and West central New Haven counties this evening.

"At 8:39 p.m. EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Brewster, moving east at 30 mph. Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this storm," the NWS says.

Bridgeport, Danbury, Shelton, Southbury, Brewster, Newtown, Fairfield, Stratford, Trumbull, Ridgefield, Monroe, Bethel, Seymour, Brookfield and Orange.

"Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways," the NWS says.
