State Police Investigate Deadly Shooting In Litchfield
Connecticut State Police responded to the report of a shooting in Litchfield shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.
LITCHFIELD, CT — Police are investigating a shooting death near a law office in Litchfield.
Connecticut State Police responded to the report of a shooting shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday. First responders to a parking lot near 46 West Street found the victim, Matthew Bromley, 39, suffering from a gunshot wound. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Troopers determined the death was due to a single gunshot wound to the head, and have called it a homicide.

Police identified Robert Fisher as a "subject" in their investigation, and have also recovered a firearm gun at the scene. Police said that Fisher remained there to speak with troopers.
The area being investigated on West Street was near Cramer & Anderson Attorneys at Law, where Fisher is a partner. The firm released a statement on their website saying that Fisher will be on leave of absence during the investigation.

"A tragic incident occurred at the Litchfield office of Cramer & Anderson LLP Monday involving Partner Robert Fisher. State Police have labeled it an isolated incident and said there is no danger to the community. Attorney Fisher will be on a leave of absence while the police investigation is carried out, and our Litchfield and Washington Depot offices will be closed Tuesday. The firm is fully cooperating with investigators. Inquiries should be directed to Partner Ken Taylor of the firm’s main office in New Milford."
According to NBC Connecticut, the two people involved in the shooting knew each other, and the alleged shooter is a legal and licensed gun carrier, and called the shooting into the police.
According to his bio on the firm's website, Fisher has been practicing law for 40 years. The attorney is also a Justice of the Peace, has been Director of Connecticut Attorneys' Title Insurance Company since 1997 and resides in Goshen. Fisher joined the Litchfield office of Cramer & Anderson after graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1976 and became a partner five years later.
The investigation by the Western District Major Crime Squad remains active. Patch will update this story as more information is made available.
