Winter Storm Warning Issued For Inland Fairfield County

The National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Storm Warning for northern Fairfield County as snow and ice estimates are on the rise once again. The warning begins noon Saturday.

In a statement, the NWS says, "Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected."

"A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible," the NWS says.

And don't even look at how cold Monday is going to be.

Snow likely, mainly after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Snow before 4am, then freezing rain and sleet. Low around 24. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. East wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.

Freezing rain before 10am, then freezing rain and sleet between 10am and 1pm, then snow likely after 1pm. Temperature falling to around 20 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Northeast wind 9 to 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.
