Woman Charged In Death of 1-Year-Old Grandchild: Danbury PD

DANBURY, CT — Police have charged a woman with the manslaughter death of her 1-year-old grandson.

Investigators from the Danbury Police Department were summoned to Danbury Hospital on March 17 following the untimely death of the child.

"As the child’s death circumstances were suspicious, an investigation was initiated to determine the cause or reason for his passing. The investigation findings implicated Cora Brandon, the child’s grandmother, to be complicit in his death," Det. Lt. Mark Williams said in a news release.

Danbury Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Brandon on May 25, and she was taken into police custody one day later without incident, according to police.

Cora Brandon, 60, was charged with first-degree manslaughter, risk of injury to a minor – impairing morals, and 5 counts of possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $500,000.
