2 Car Fires, Brush Fire Investigated In Guilford And Durham: PD

The fires were set in both towns, just three miles apart and police believe the fires may have been intentionally set.

GUILFORD/DURHAM, CT — Police in Guilford and Durham are investigating two recent car fires and a brush fire and believe the fires may have been intentionally set. Guilford Police say the incident occurred on Jan. 12.

"At approximately 3:30am, a resident's vehicle parked on the side of the road in the area of 5200 Durham Road caught fire and was completely destroyed. While responding to the scene, Guilford Fire and Police units were notified the that Durham Fire Department was responding to another, separate incident of a car fire, reported at 3:24 am in Durham. These two car fires were found to be just 3 miles apart," police said.

Further, while responding to the scene, Guilford officers located a small brush fire on the side of the road in the area of 4200 Durham Road, just north of the Lake Quonnipaug parking lot, police said.

Evidence collected to date indicates these fires may have been intentionally set, police said. At this time the Guilford Police Department is requesting assistance in gathering any information relevant to these fires.
