The Connecticut Restaurant Association (CRA) announced that four of the top female chefs in the state will host a special dinner for golfers and guests on June 28 at Lyman Orchards as part of the 2021 Golf Classic. Jes Bengtson from Terrain Café & Amis Trattoria (Westport), Ashley Flagg from Millwright’s (Simsbury), Emily Mingrone from Tavern on State (New Haven) and Renee Touponce from Oyster Club (Mystic) will be the featured chefs, working together and using local ingredients from area farms to provide dinner to nearly 350 guests.

In addition to these four leading chefs, the CRA has invited some of their top ProStart high school students to provide cooking and prep support to each of these chefs, which will help enhance the overall experience. ProStart is the two-year career-building program for high school students provided through the CRA’s CT Hospitality Educational Foundation. Whether students are looking to enter the job market directly after graduating or planning to attend college, a ProStart graduate makes a solid candidate for success.

“Our ultimate goal in hosting an event at the CRA is to highlight our incredible industry and having these four phenomenal chefs headline our golf classic dinner is no exception,” said Scott Dolch, Executive Director of the Connecticut Restaurant Association. “The past 15 months have been extremely difficult for our industry, but as we turn the page on this pandemic, we hope this dinner will showcase why Connecticut is home to some of the best restaurants and chefs in the country. Plus, we will also have a chance to recognize a handful of ProStart high school students who are the future of our industry.”
