Durham Crash Victim Bragged About Going 160 MPH

Two teens were injured as a result of Saturday's one-car crash on Foot Hills Road.

A Durham teenager badly hurt when he crashed head on into a tree early Saturday morning bragged about speeding in the car just hours earlier on the social media website Twitter.

Police say Kevin Wiknik, 18, of Durham, was airlifted to Hartford Hospital after he sustained serious injuries in the accident which happened shortly after 6 a.m. along Foot Hills Road.

Wiknik was driving an unregistered 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed, police said. The vehicle did not have license plates, according to police.

On his public Twitter feed hours before the crash, Wiknik bragged about driving the car at excessive speeds.

"Got the 3kgtls up to 160 today n she was only at 4900 outta 70000 rpms in 5th," he tweeted.

He tweeted twice more before the crash including a tweet at 5 a.m. in which he said he was still not home.

Another teen, identified as Dylan Cronin, 18, of Haddam, suffered minor cuts and scrapes in the accident. Police said Cronin left the scene of the accident on foot but was later found.

No charges have been filed but the accident remains under investigation, according to police.
