Durham State Rep. Kokoruda Receives Child Advocacy Honor
The three-term Republican has made children's issues a priority

DURHAM, CT — State Rep. Noreen Kokoruda (R-101st) recently was honored by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance (CECA) with a Children’s Champion award. CECA is a statewide membership and advocacy organization committed to improving developmental outcomes in the areas of learning, health, safety and economic security for children ages birth through eight.
Kokoruda, who serves as the leading Republican in the General Assembly’s Committee on Children, represents Durham and Madison, and she received the champion's honor for the fourth consecutive year.
“It is an absolute honor to have been selected as a 2016 Champion for Children,” said Kokoruda in a statement. “It is important that parents, caregivers, and teachers all have access to quality resources and essential information in order to help children grow and develop during early stages of their lives. As Ranking Member of the Committee on Children, I am dedicated to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to create common sense legislation that will improve the policies, which shape and define our state’s early childhood system.”
