Durham-Middlefield Police Blotter: July 31 — August 7
The following information was provided by Connecticut State Police and local police departments.

July 31
John Nowotynski, 48, of Ross Road, Rockfall, was charged with insurance coverage fails minimum, operation of unregistered vehicle and improper use of a marker plate. According to Middletown Police, Nowotynski was driving a Subaru Legacy on Pine Street near Poinsettia Street with a plate registered to a Mercury Milan. The report says he was previously arrested in March for a similar incident in that car with another plate.
August 1
Police were called to investigate a hit-and-run accident at Liberty Bank, 357 Main Street, Durham. According to a police report, a driver returned to his vehicle to find that it had been struck. No description of the evading vehicle was given.
Police responded to a two vehicle crash along Route 147 in Middlefield. According to a police report, Sherry Castor, 49, of 58 West Street, Middlefield, was cited for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection. The police report says Castor did not have a driver's license.
August 5
Police responded to a two vehicle crash along Haddam Quarter Road. According to a police report, a 2008 Volkswagen Golf driven by Ryan Staron, 18, of Newington, crossed over the center line and collided with another vehicle. Staron and three passengers in the second vehicle, two children and an adult, were taken to Middlesex Hospital for evaluation. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Staron was cited for failure to drive right.
August 7
Jennifer Ann Harris, 41, of 105 Falls Road, Moodus, was charged with disorderly conduct and third degree assault on an elderly victim. According to a police report, Harris turned herself in to police on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence charges related to an incident that occurred in Durham on July 26. Harris' bond was set at $1,500. She's due in court Sept. 5.
