Durham's Sara Richardson Earns Scholar Athlete Award

The Mercy High School graduate was recognized last month by the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame.

Sara Richardson of Durham received the 2013 Scholar Athlete Award from the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony held last month.

The Mercy High School graduate was a three-sport athlete for the Tigers, playing four years of soccer and lacrosse and two years of basketball. Sara was a National Merit commended student, member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and held the position of Treasurer for Student Council and Spanish National Honor Society during her senior year.

She was also a member of the Mercy High School Robotics Club (Mercy Tech Tigers) and has been an active volunteer with Masonic Home & Hospital, Mercy Ambassador, Durham Park & Rec, Notre Dame Church of Durham and the Durham Fair.

Sara will attend Miami University of Ohio in the fall, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

She is the daughter of Spencer and Maria Richardson of Durham and has three younger sisters, Danielle, Katelyn & Alyssa.

Other 2013 Scholar-Athlete winners are Samantha Gambino, Patrick Michaud, Amanda Balch, John Harper and Corey J. Danko.
