Firefighters Extinguish Blaze At Middlefield Garage
Emergency crews responded to the call Thursday afternoon.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT — Firefighters extinguished a heavy structure fire Thursday afternoon. Firefighters were dispatched to the Ross Road home at 1:30 p.m. for a fire in a detached garage.
Crews battled heavy fire and an unstable structure while trying to protect a nearby home.
Mutual aid to fight the blaze came from Durham Volunteer Fire Company, Westfield FD, South Fire District Firefighters IAFF Local 3918, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Co., and Meriden Engine Co. 5 "East Meriden." There were no injuries.

The City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073 provided station coverage for the town and responded to another medical emergency.
"It takes a team to bring a large scale incident like this under control while trying to assure our residents are protected in case of additional emergencies," fire officials wrote in a Facebook post. "Great job by all involved."
