For our June Community Conversations about Race, we will explore the past, present, and future of zoning laws in Connecticut, with a focus on the relationship between zoning and residential segregation.
Our featured speaker will be Nick Abbott: a legal fellow with Desegregate CT, a researchand advocacy organization dedicated to land use reform in the state. His presentation will cover a brief history of segregation in Connecticut, the role of zoning in entrenching and exacerbating this trend, and the cutting edgeresearch on the current reality of zoning policies in our state.

Following the presentation, there will be ample time for questions and a discussion of concrete measures the state, towns, and individuals can take to chip away at exclusionary policies and promote more equitable, integrated communities.
