Middlefield Resident Seriously Injured In Fatal Crash In Hamden
The crash occurred Wednesday night in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — A 25-year-old New Haven resident was killed in a crash that closed State Street in Hamden for several hours on Wednesday night, according to police.
Emergency crews responded to the 2900 block of State Street on the report of a crash involving a car and a box truck at about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 2.
Capt. Ronald Smith said that a preliminary investigation found that a vehicle, operated by Moet Bacote, was traveling southbound on State Street.

Bacote’s vehicle apparently crossed the double-yellow center line and collided with a box truck that was operated by a 26-year-old Middlefield resident, according to Smith. Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage, Smith said.
Bacote, 25, of New Haven, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital by American Medical Response with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, according to Smith.

The Middlefield resident was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.
State Street was closed for nearly seven hours, Smith said.
