Middlefield Grandmother Wins Six-Figure CT Lottery Prize
"I got it because on Thanksgiving, I behaved," said Florence Meadows, joking. She plans on spreading some holiday cheer to her grandkids.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT — While most were out spending money on Black Friday this year, Florence Meadows of the Rockfall section of Middlefield was busy collecting a $100,000 “Cash5” top prize, according to Connecticut Lottery officials.
“I got it because on Thanksgiving, I behaved,” said a joking Meadows in a statement.
The Cash5 numbers were of special meaning to Meadows. All five numbers come from family birthdays; four come from her children’s birthdays, and the fifth from her husband’s. They were a perfect match to the winning numbers drawn on November 25, 2016: 4 – 13 – 20 – 26 – 28.

“I had gone to bed early, got up at 10 am—looked up the numbers on the computer. I said my prayers as I looked at it.” Meadows struggled to contain her excitement as she exclaimed, “No way! I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it.”

The lucky grandmother plans to spoil her seven grandchildren during the holiday season with her newfound winnings. “I’ll give most away to the kids! I’m sure [the kids] will go crazy,” she said with a chuckle.
When asked if she would treat herself, Meadows happily pondered a bit before answering. “Maybe I’ll get a new computer.”
For selling the winning ticket, Hasnain LLC in Rockfall will receive a $1,000 bonus check from the CT Lottery.
