Obituary: Jackie Spahr, of Durham

Jackie Spahr passed away at CT Hospice with her husband Paul nearby this Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 ending her third battle with cancer. She has been a Durham resident for the past 8 years, previously lived in New Haven for 14 years and lived in California before meeting her husband.

Jackie, a Seventh-day Adventist, was passionate about her faith. She would share her beliefs and pray with anyone that showed an interest. Libraries were also very important to her. She volunteered and later worked in East Haven’s Hagaman Memorial Library for over 18 years.

One of her proudest achievements was starting and running the library at her church for 17 years. She loved to travel, especially mountains, seashores or cruises. Some of her favorite places were Alaska, Yosemite, Sequoia, Yellowstone and Niagara Falls. And of course, there were cosmetics, a lifelong hobby which she also sold for a while in California.Her parents, Norman and Frances Kemmerick predeceased her in 2012.

A memorial service will be held June 10th at 11:00AM at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on 300 Paddock Avenue, Meriden, CT 06450.
