Obituary: Karl F. Meyer Jr, 73, of Durham
Karl, known for his quick wit, proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked many years as a steel worker at Ulbrich Steel and Ametek.

DURHAM, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Karl F. Meyer Jr, 73, of Durham, husband of Rheta (Rogers) Meyer, passed away unexpectedly January 29, 2021 at his home.
He was born in San Jose, CA on December 18, 1947, a son of the late Carl and Mary (Serra) Meyer.
Karl worked many years as a steel worker at Ulbrich Steel and Ametek. He also served in the U.S. Army prior to a medical discharge.
He was known for his quick wit with jokes and pranks that brought many smiles and much laughter. He enjoyed many simple pleasures in retirement including outings to the casinos, a family poker game, reading a good book or swimming in his pool.

An avid baseball and lifelong Red Sox fan, Karl's truck would often be spotted at the local ball fields enjoying a game with his beloved four legged sidekick "Fred". One of Karl's favorite afternoons was a ride to the shore with Rheta and Fred followed by a delicious meal at Bill's Seafood.
In addition to his wife of 30 years, Rheta, he is survived by his sons, Donald Meyer and his wife Kelly of Killingworth; David Meyer of Wallingford; Jeffrey Meyer and his wife Jill of Fargo, ND; Scott Meyer and his wife Teresa of New Haven and his daughter; Crissy Meyer Lausier of Southington; his grandchildren, Christopher, Madison, Alex, Dillon, Emalee and Jake.

Karl is also survived by a brother, Thomas Meyer and his wife Pat of Yalesville, his sisters, Karla Ingram of San Jose CA, Bertha Meyer of Wallingford, Debra (Meyer) Cronin of Meriden, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Meyer.
Karl’s family will receive relatives at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 10 am until 11 am. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday in the funeral home.
