Opening Day Looms for Coginchaug High School Teams

DURHAM, CT — High school sports practices have been ongoing for nearly two weeks and preseason scrimmages are in full swing, but the real deal begins Thursday - opening day of the regular season for many varsity teams.

Here are the scheduled opening contests for varsity teams at Coginchaug Regional High School. For a complete season schedule of Blue Devil varsity, JV and freshman teams, visit the CIAC web site.

• girls volleyball - Thursday, 9/6, at North Branford, 5:30 p.m.
• cross country - Friday, 9/7, at Blue Dragon Invitational, 3:30 p.m.
• boys soccer - Saturday, 9/8, vs. Daniel Hand, 2 p.m.
• girls soccer - Saturday, 9/8, at East Hampton, 2 p.m.
• football - Saturday, 9/8, at Canton, 6 p.m.
