Report: Durham Man Dies After Crash Along Route 68

A local man has died after a crash involving two pick-up trucks along Route 68 in Durham Thursday night, according to reports.

Anthony S, Mezzie, 36, of Durham, was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital shortly after the accident which happened just after 7 p.m.

According to police, Mezzie was traveling eastbound along Route 68 when he collided with another truck being driven by Stephen Babu, 33, of Meriden, near Ozick Drive. 

Mezzie was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his truck. Babu suffered a head injury and is listed in stable condition, according to the Hartford Courant.

Route 68 remained closed until just before 1 a.m. Friday. The crash remains under investigation by state police.
