Man Killed In Durham Crash After being Pursued By Cops In Madison

The accident shut down a major route for several hours Wednesday.

DURHAM, CT — There are new details Wednesday afternoon concerning a serious accident that shut down Route 79 (Madison Road) for several hours Wednesday morning. The accident occurred between South End Avenue and Sand Hill Road, town officials said.

Now WFSB 3 TV reports that a man died in the crash, which occurred at 3:30 a.m. The driver of a stolen car was being pursued in Madison and ended up crashing his car and would later die as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

The man's name has not yet been released. State Police are investigating.
