Stolen Trailer Shows Up 3 Years Later In Middlefield

A stolen trailer was spotted by its owner 3 years after the theft, police said.

MIDDLEFIELD/SOUTHINGTON, CT — A man accused of stealing a trailer in Southington is due in court next week to answer a larceny charge after the owner spotted it three years later, police said.

On Jan. 3, the accused, Daniel Henderson, was the subject of a motor vehicle stop, during which police discovered that he had an active arrest warrant for fourth-degree lareceny, a report indicates.

The warrant resulted from a case that started in May 2014 in which a landscape trailer was stolen from the parking lot at 409 Canal St. in Southington. In September 2017, the owner of the trailer saw it online, listed for for sale in Middlefield.

The owner showed police a title for the trailer and Henderson was only able to provide an incomplete bill of sale as evidence that he was the owner of the trailer, according to a warrant.

Henderson is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Jan 14.
