Volunteers recently started to pull weeds from Lake Beseck in an effort to ensure that the lake's beach area will open this summer.
The "trial run" was performed using a 12-foot "lake rake" which was dropped into the weeds and used to pull out curly pondweed, an invasive species that has threatened the water quality of the lake as well as recreational opportunities.
