What Durham Voters Can Expect At The May 4 Referendum

In addition to the proposed RSD13 budget, there will be a Town of Durham question on the acquisition and financing of Korn School.

The May 4th Referendum will be a little different this year. The biggest change being the RELOCATION of the polling place from Korn to Coginchaug Regional High School Gym. Voting will NO longer be at Korn.

Voters will also be voting on multiple questions. One RSD13 question (Legal Notice Link) concerning the proposed RSD13 budget and a Town of Durham question (STM Link) regarding the Town acquisition and financing of Korn School.

Due to the Governors Executive Orders, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, voters will have the option of voting by absentee ballot. You must complete the absentee ballot APPLICATION in order to receive the absentee BALLOT. The absentee ballot will be issued by request. Please note there is an application for each. Here is the Breakdown

Executive Order 10E: This EO allows the town clerk to mail absentee ballots for referendum with less than three weeks’ notice. In usual times (Pre-COVID-19) this is not allowed, and the voter must apply in person.

RSD13 Budget Referendum: Absentee Ballots are available now.

Korn School Referendum: Special Town Meeting to be held, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 7:00 pm in the CRHS auditorium. Absentee Ballots will be available, April 28th, after Special Town Meeting approval.

Ballot Drop Box: The Drop Box is now open for submitting applications for absentee ballots (see AB application link above), and completed absentee ballots. However, as time will be very short for the Korn School question, you are advised to apply in person for that absentee ballot as we cannot guarantee if mailed, you will receive the ballot in time if you do not apply in person.

IMPORTANT: Time is very short! If you do not apply in person, we cannot guarantee you will receive the absentee ballot in time if it must be mailed. This is IMPORTANT we said it twice.

Deadline for Ballot Return: Absentee ballots for the RSD13 and Korn School Referendum must be received by 8:00pm on May 4, 2021.
