Afternoon Tea, The Romance of Hats Benefits Portland Library

Portland Library’s Board of Directors invites all to an afternoon tea, taking place at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Waverly Center, 7 Waverly Ave., Portland.

The Ultimate Tea Couple will present a talk titled "The Romance of Hats.” Donna and Ron Lasko will speak on the history of hats, from the time of Jane Austen to today, using their extensive collection of hats that encompasses styles from the 1800s to 2015.

The menu will feature courtship tea, a unique blend of black teas and flavorings, and assorted desserts. Admission is $25 per person. Proceeds go toward the Portland Library endowment fund, to support special projects.
