Body of Missing East Hampton Man Found in Chester Creek
The 64-year-old man was reported missing on May 8, 2016.
State Police detectives from Central District Major Crime (CDMC) are investigating an untimely death reported in Chester.
On May 8, at approximately 1:30 p.m., troopers from Troop F-Westbrook responded to Dock Road in Chester for a report of a missing person.
Troopers initiated an investigation into the missing person, described as a 64-year-old man, and along with State Police K9 teams and several area fire departments, conducted a search for the man.
Chester Hose Co., along with Haddam Volunteer Fire Co., East Haddam Volunteer Fire Co., Essex Fire Department, Old Saybrook Fire Department and Deep River Volunteer Fire Dept., used boats to conduct a search of nearby waters.
At approximately 2:50 p.m., a body was found in Chester Creek, state police said.
"EMS responded to the scene and checked the missing man for signs of life,” state police said. "The missing man was subsequently pronounced deceased.”
Detectives determined there is no criminal aspect to this untimely death at this time. Detectives continue to investigate.
The victim has been identified as Boyd Height, 64, of Hog Hill in East Hampton.
State police detectives from CDMC responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) also responded to the scene and will assist in the investigation and conduct a post-mortem examination to determine cause and manner of death.
