Man Charged In Fatal Portland Hit-and-Run: Report

Police said a Middletown man has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run after turning himself in to Portland police.

PORTLAND, CT — A Middletown man has been charged in a fatal November hit-and-run after turning himself in at the Portland Police Department on Wednesday, according to media reports. The incident occurred Nov. 4 on the Arrigoni Bridge, which connects Middletown to Portland.

Police said 36-year-old Khavar McDonald of Middletown has been charged in connection with the crash, in which a 22-year-old father of two was killed, NBC Connecticut reported. Police said Daquan Moore of Middletown was on a scooter when he was hit from behind by a white Audi.

According to Fox 61, a witness told police the vehicle dragged Moore and his vehicle about 200 feet before he was ejected from it. The witness also said the Audi made a u-turn and went back over the bridge into Middletown.

The accused was charged with reckless driving, manslaughter in the second degree, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and evading responsibility in operation of a motor vehicle, causing death among other charges, according to NBC Connecticut.
