Meeting Tonight on $51 Million EHHS Renovation Project
The informational meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Tonight is the night the East Hampton Town Council will answer residents’ questions about the $51 million project to renovate East Hampton High School.
The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library, with town officials present to answer questions regarding the building renovation. Town voters approved the project at referendum in June.
The “renovate as new” plan calls for a complete overhaul of the 95,000-square-foot East Hampton High School building; the town had been pressured to renovate the school since an accreditation agency found that the high school’s science and technology facilities were inadequate in 2007.

The plan for the project includes demolishing two 1970s-era wings, with a new gymnasium, renovated library and media center added. It will also include a new science and technology block.
The gymnasium and science wings would go up first during the first phase of the project, which is expected to begin Nov. 2014. The renovations are expected to be completed by 2017.
