A memorialization ceremony will be held on October 29 at 2:00p.m., at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 376 Smith Street in Middletown where a memorial showcase and plaque will be unveiled to honor Major General Maurice Rose, United States Army who was killed in action during WW 11 in March 1945.
The building in which the ceremony will be held is named in honor of MG Rose who was Commander of the 3rd Armored Division. He was one of three generals killed in action the European Theatre and the youngest American Division Commander ever lost in action. He was neither a West Pointer or a college graduate, however, Rose know how to effectively use tanks and supporting arms in combat and integrated infantry and artillery to achieve victory.
MG. Rose was born in Middletown on November 26, 1899 at 508 Main Street. A plaque which was dedicated in 2002 identifies his birthplace.

Today MG Rose is recognized as a leader who was a front-line soldier, he was the point of the spear the quintessinal professional, the living embodiment of a warrior-- a soldier’s soldier.
