Monday March 25th at 6:30 p.m.

Gettysburg: One Woman's War a historical reenactment! Monday, March 25th at 6:30 pm in the Mary Flood Room.

In honor of Women's history month, the Portland Library is excited to present the one-woman play Gettysburg: One Woman’s War featuring equity actress Michèle LaRue.

This unique dramatization sees America’s Civil War through a female perspective, vividly introducing townswoman Mary Bowman on July 4, 1863—the fateful day the battle of Gettysburg, PA, began. Professional actress Michèle LaRue performs this one-woman play—praised as 'a touching, intimate portrait” in its premiere.

LaRue adapted this presentation from novelist Elsie Singmaster’s classic Gettysburg: Stories of the Red Harvest and the Aftermath—published in 1913, the semi-centennial of the War Between the States. Sponsored by a bequest from the Norma Werdelin estate!
