Portland Public Works to Begin Chip Sealing Friday
The department will be chip sealing the Town Hall parking lot.

Visitors to Portland Town Hall this Friday will need to park on East Main St. or Fairview St. as the Public Work Department begins chip sealing the Town Hall parking lot.
The chip seal process includes using liquid asphalt to patch the roadway and then covering it with crushed stone. Drivers should take caution, as loose stone will be present on the roadway.
The department is recommending that drivers slow down when driving on chip sealed roads, and allow additional space between vehicles to prevent rocks from being kicked up into following cars.
