Portland Woman Charged In Hammer Assault: PD
A local woman is being charged with assaulting a juvenile in Newington.
PORTLAND, CT — A local woman is being accused of attacking a juvenile female with a hammer in Newington. Cristina Moreno, 24, was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace, according to police.
Police said Moreno was "involved with a physical altercation with a juvenile female" on Aug. 13 and "allegedly struck the female in the face with a hammer, causing serious physical injury."
Moreno then fled the scene. Officers investigated and identified Moreno as the suspect.
She was detained on $250,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court today.
