State Police Take Over East Hampton Human Remains Case
A human foot was found along the Connecticut River Tuesday.

State police have taken over the investigation into the human remains that were found in East Hampton along the banks of the Connecticut River Tuesday.
The remains were identified as a human foot, but it was unknown whether the foot was male or female, according to a report by WTNH.
A maintenance work found the remains near Saint Clement’s Castle near the Connecticut River shoreline on Tuesday.

Initially officers from the East Hampton and Portland police departments were aided in the investigation by detectives from the State Police Major Crime Squad, as well as state officers and dive teams.
However, the case is now being headed by the state police missing person unit and the Eastern District Major Crime Squad. All new information on the case will came from state police, East Hampton police said Wednesday.
