6 CT Golfers Survive First Travelers Championship Pre-Qualifier
A total of 21 players gained eligibility for Monday's open qualifying event Wednesday, with a second pre-qualifer slated for Thursday.

ELLINGTON, CT — The first of back-to-back pre-qualifying tournaments for the upcoming Travelers Championship saw more than 80 competitors tackle the Ellington Ridge Country Club layout Wednesday, with 21 players shooting 2-under par 70 or better to advance to Monday's open qualifying round.
Six players from Connecticut were among the successful qualifiers to advance, including medalist John Bushka of Stratford, who carded two eagles and five birdies en route to a sizzling 8-under 64. Max Theodorakis of Danbury was second, posting seven birdies in his round of 66.
Other qualifiers from the Nutmeg State were Paul Pastore of Stamford (68), amateur Benjamin James of Milford (69), Clark Robinson of South Windsor (69) and amateur Matt Camel of Greenwich (70). A complete scoreboard of Wednesday's results is available here.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, a new field of 91 players will attempt to earn passage to the open qualifier, with the top 16 finishers gaining a spot. Starting times may be viewed here.
At Monday's open qualifier, a field of players including many current and former PGA TOUR competitors will battle for the final two spots in the Travelers Championship, slated for June 25-28 at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. Total purse is $7.4 million, with $1.332 million awarded to the tournament winner. Chez Reavie is the defending champion.
