7th Connecticut Inmate Dies Of Coronavirus Complications
Another inmate in the Connecticut prison system has died of coronavirus complications, officials said.

SOMERS, CT — A seventh inmate in the Connecticut prison system has died from complications related to the coronavirus, officials for the state Department of Correction said.
The 60-year-old man was serving a 43-year sentence with a release date of September 2023, DOC officials said. His name was not released by DOC officials because of medical privacy laws.
The inmate was transferred from Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers to UConn Health on April 30 and he then died Tuesday, authorities said. DOC officials said he had been taken to hospitals several times throughout his 28 years in prison.

"I was hopeful that we would not experience another death due to the coronavirus," DOC Commissioner Rollin Cook said. "We will keep working to prevent any more. My condolences go out to his family and loved ones."
State statistics show that 792 inmates have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of that number, 514 have recovered from the virus, the statistics show.
