Academic Honors Bestowed On Ellington, Somers College Students

ELLINGTON/SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

American International College, Springfield MA

• American International College has named 640 students to the Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester. Dean's List students are full time students who have achieved a 3.3 to 4.0 GPA. Local honorees are Avery Foye and Marissa Long, both of Somers, and Alexander Tarbox of Ellington.

Bryant University, Smithfield RI

• Matthew Kiernan, class of 2023, from Somers, has been named to the President's List for the fall 2020 semester. The President's List is an academic distinction reserved for Bryant's highest achievers who earn a GPA of 4.0 or better for at least 12 semester hours of work.
• Eleven area students have been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester. From Ellington are Gavin Laughlan, class of 2024; Sawyer Morrow, class of 2021; Benjamin Heyman, class of 2022; Sarah Litty, class of 2024; Daniel Barrett, class of 2021; and Andrew Heyman, class of 2024,. From Somers are Brett Ansaldi, class of 2022; Cassandra Rich, class of 2024; Michael Grassetti, class of 2021; Gina Catellier, class of 2022; and Matthew Kiernan, class of 2023.

Cedarville University, Cedarville OH

• Amanda Moffitt and Luke Moffitt, both of Ellington, were named to the fall 2020 Dean's List. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

College of the Holy Cross, Worcester MA

• Alexis Cantin of Ellington, a member of the Class of 2024, was named to the College of the Holy Cross fall 2020 Dean's List. To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Dean College, Franklin MA

• Dean College is pleased to announce that Peyton Emrick of Somers has earned a place on the Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester. Students named to the Dean's List have demonstrated a serious commitment to their studies while at Dean College.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Nearly 70 percent of Eastern Connecticut State University's 72 student-athletes who were eligible to qualify for the 2020 Little East Conference Fall All-Academic Team did so. The fall team was compiled for the 13th consecutive year. The honorees included Ryan Jamieson, a sophomore business major from Ellington who is a member of the men's soccer team.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY

• Aadhya Lal of Ellington excelled during the fall 2020 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the Dean's List.

Ithaca College, Ithaca NY

• Ithaca College student Erin Hayes from Ellington was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester.

Lasell University, Newton MA

• Destini Blake of Ellington was named to the fall 2020 Dean's List at Lasell University. Students who receive this honor have completed at least 12 credits as a full-time student and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

• Ellington residents Olivia Gionet, of the Class of 2021, and Savanna Macaluso, of the Class of 2022, made the Dean's List for the fall 2020 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

University of Nebraska, Lincoln NE

• Justin Paul Talbot of Somers has been named to the Deans' List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year. Talbot, a senior majoring in actuarial science, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Business.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

• Hannah Collins of Somers graduated from the University of New Hampshire in December 2020. She earned a MS in Occupational Therapy.
• Three local students have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall 2020 semester. They are Jenni Giacalone of Ellington, Highest Honors; Anna Kalinowski of Somers, High Honors; and William Jones of Ellington, Honors. Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

University of Tampa, Tampa FL

• Victoria Amundarain, of Ellington, earned dean's list honors at the University of Tampa for the fall 2020 semester. Amundarain is a junior majoring in Allied Health. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the dean's list.
