Chase Koepka Joins Brother Brooks In Travelers Field

A Connecticut player also broke out of qualifying to get into the Travelers field.

ELLINGTON, CT — Chase Keopka survived a five-man playoff on Monday to join his celebrated brother Brooks in the Travelers Championship field this week.

Fellow Korn Ferry Tour member David Pastore, of Stamford, also made the field by with a par the first hole of sudden death at Ellington Ridge Country Club.

Koepka, who hails from West Palm Beach, FL, and Pastore, shot 5-under par 67s, as did Billy Tom Sargent (Georgetown, KY), Max Theodorakis (Danbury), and Kurt Kitayama (Las Vegas, NV). Sargent, Theodorakis, and Kitayama all were eliminated by bogeying the first hole of sudden death.

A total of 67 players teed off in Monday's open qualifying round, including Ken Duke, the winner of the 2013 Travelers. Duke shot 33 on his outgoing nine, but seemed to tire on the incoming nine in the 90-plus-degree heat to shoot 39 for an even par 72 total.
