ELLINGTON, CT — After nearly four years in business at the Meadowview Plaza on Route 83, the Cold Creek Tavern will close its doors on Sunday, June 27, according to a social media announcement by owner Jamie Boucher.

In a letter posted on the tavern's Facebook page, Boucher said the reasons for the closure "are complex and have many different facets." He cited expansion difficulties in the current space, "few land options or spaces" in Ellington, and staffing issues. He also stated, "Selling Cold Creek is not on the table for me, so I feel it is prudent to make room for those who have a different vision."

Originally a brewery, Cold Creek expanded into a tavern in 2017, offering a pub menu and a dozen craft beers. During the initial phase of the coronavirus shutdown of 2020, Boucher made several renovations to the facility, including renovations to the bar and adding fresh paint.
