Cops Bust Up Pot Growing Operation In Ellington

A marijuana growing operation was uncovered in Ellington.

ELLINGTON, CT — The search of an Ellington residence last week uncovered a marijuana growing operation, state police said.

The raid took place last Thursday after state police secured a warrant for the 9 Pinney St. residence, according to a report. The warrant was the result of what state police said was an "ongoing investigation."

During the search, investigators confirmed a cultivation operation and other related equipment, according to a report.

The resident was identified as 57-year-old Edward Papandrea. He was charged with:

  • Two counts of producing/preparing a controlled substance
  • Two counts of possessing drug paraphernalia
  • Operating a drug factory
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Criminal possession of a firearm

Papandrea's bond was set at $100,000.
