DEEP Stocks Crystal Lake With Salmon

The fall stocking program is under way.

ELLINGTON, CT — The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection fall stocking program for broodstock Atlantic salmon began this week with the release of 500 fish into Crystal Lake.

“Atlantic salmon are renowned for their size, beauty and fighting ability,” said Peter Aarrestad, Director of DEEP’s Inland Fisheries Division. “The Atlantic salmon recreational fishery has become quite popular, and catching one of these large leapers provides a thrilling experience for anglers.”

DEEP officials said they expect to stock more than 2,000 Atlantic salmon this fall, including those already released. Most of these fish range in weight from 2 to 6 pounds each.
