Driver Killed As Car Slams Into Somers House
The impact shifted the house off its foundation, causing it to be deemed uninhabitable.

SOMERS, CT — A young man from Somers was killed and a house deemed uninhabitable after a car crashed into the home early Saturday morning, according to state police.
The crash occurred around 2:45 a.m., when an eastbound 2007 Honda Accord operated by Kyle McCahey, 21, clipped a pair of mailboxes with its passenger side on Four Bridges Road. The car careened left, then right, into a yard at 359 Four Bridges, where it struck the house, police said.
McCahey was unresponsive at the scene, and was extricated from the car. He was pronounced dead at Johnson Memorial Hospital, police said.

At the time of the crash, three people were inside the 786 square foot home, built around 1900. The impact from the collision shifted the foundation, causing the structure to be deemed uninhabitable by a building inspector, police said.
Police did not have an estimated speed the vehicle was traveling at the time of the crash. The posted speed limit on that section of Four Bridges Road is 35 mph.
