Ellington Community Theatre wants you to know one simple truth this summer: There’s no place like home. Now in its sixth year, this multi-town, multi-generational theatre is thrilled to announce their Summer 2019 offering will be the musical version of the beloved American classic, The Wizard of Oz. “I can’t think of any other show that calls to mind so many iconic images as does The Wizard of Oz,” said choreographer Stacey Beapre, who is co-directing the show with musical director Connor Sullivan. “The ruby slippers, the yellow brick road, the rainbow, the Emerald City -- just mention one of those images and people know exactly what story you’re talking about.” “What excites us as directors, though,” says Sullivan, “is that we can take some of those iconic elements and tweak them in fun and unexpected ways. That’s where the magic of theater comes in.”Performances are Thursday and Friday July 25 and 26 at 7 pm and Saturday July 27 at 2 pm. The show will be held at Ellington High School’s Gordon C. Getchell auditorium.

Ellington Community Theatre was established in 2014 and became a non-profit in 2018. It was created with the goal of fostering a sense of community though the experience of intergenerational theater. The Theatre is grateful for the continued support of local area businesses, Ellington Youth Services and Ellington ad hoc committee Developing Positive Youth Culture.
