Ellington Farmers' Kicks Off Season with Barnyard Babies

The Ellington Farmers’ Market inaugural event of the season, ”Barnyard Babies” will be held at Arbor Park on Main Street on Saturday May 10th from 9-12.  The morning will feature a variety of barnyard animals for the entire family to enjoy and a “Name the Piglet Contest” with a $25.00 market certificate awarded to the person submitting the winning name.  Local musician Sheryl Station will provide the entertainment.

Nearly all vendors from last season will be returning including the ever-popular Luann's Bakery, The Fish Market, Smyth's Trinity Dairy Farm  and Copper Hill Farm (organic produce and pork).  The market  boasts over thirty vendors offering an exciting array of  weekly offerings of  local produce, plants, dairy, beef,  poultry, cheese, honey, specialty foods, alpaca products, handmade soaps, artisan wares and more.

The Ellington Farmers’ Market has become a social gathering place for the community on Saturday mornings.  It is a place to meet friends and bring a chair to relax under the trees while listening to local musicians. Events and demonstrations enhance the weekly themes which include a sheep shearing demonstration, rabies and microchip clinic, youth vendor day, Kids Power of Produce Club and the Zucchini 500 drag race.
