Ellington Farmers Market Continues With Fiber Festival
Enjoy sheep shearing, spinning and weaving demonstrations, visit angora goats and alpacas, make a nesting ball and shop local and fresh!
The weather cooperated with a bright and beautiful morning on Saturday May 11th for the kick off of the Ellington Farmers' Market summer season. The community came out in full strength to visit the barnyard babies, catch up with friends and neighbors and support the market. Sheryl Stanton provided the music while kids danced freely around the gazebo in celebration of spring as the sun streamed down. Barnyard babies from newly hatched chicks to kid goats, calves, rabbits, and piglets where enjoyed by all.
This weekend looks to be just as much fun as the Market host the annual Fiber Festival. A live sheep shearing demonstration begins at 10:00 followed by the shearing of angora goats. Kids can make a nesting ball and enjoy fiber producing animals including angora goats, sheep and alpacas. Spinning and weaving demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the morning including Fido's Fiber who spins dog fur into yarn. If you have a hairy canine you can finally find a use for all that fur floating around your house. Imagine wearing the same "coat" as your canine friend, wow! Their will be no shortage of fun things to see and do at the market this weekend.
The weather man is calling for sunshine and 70's, perfect for strolling the grounds of the market in Arbor Park from 9-12. A complete list of vendors and information can be found at www.ellingtonfarmersmarket.com
