Ellington Farmers Market Opens Season With Barnyard Babies
Bring the family to enjoy baby farm animals and shop 40 vendors for great farm products, food and artisan wares just in time for Mothers'Day
Ellington Farmers’ Market opens its summer season in Arbor Park on Saturday May 11th from 9-12. Barnyard Babies is the opening theme where the entire family can enjoy visiting a variety of farm animals up close and personal while browsing 40 vendors bringing local and fresh products to the market. Continuing through October 19th rain or shine, the market matches SNAP (formally food stamps) up to $20 per week per EBT card. The market will also be matching the Farmers Market Senior Nutrition Program vouchers distributed by the CT. Department of Agriculture, thanks to a generous donation by The Ivy of Ellington. The market hosts weekly themes, musical entertainment, educational programs and a Kids Power of Produce Club which empowers children to make healthy food choices and distributes $2 tokens for kids to purchase fresh produce. These programs are funded through the generous donations of local businesses and individuals. Ellington Farmers Market is a non-profit 501c3 corporation and all donations are tax deductible. A complete listing of events, entertainment, vendors, sponsors and a link for their weekly newsletter can be found at www.ellingtonfarmersmarket.com Questions can be sent to ellingtonfarmersmarket@gmail.com.
