Ellington Farmers Market Opens The Summer Season in Arbor Park

Enjoy the morning strolling the market, visit baby animals, meet friends and shop 40 vendors for local and fresh goodness. Live music too!

The weather looks good for opening day of the Ellington Farmers' Market this Saturday, May 11th from 9-12 in Arbor Park. The entire family can enjoy loads of adorable spring animal babies including mini donkeys, chicks, ducklings, kid goats, piglets, lambs and calves. Every Saturday the market features some aspect of life in the Ellington community and its wealth of agricultural history and identity. Spring is a time of rebirth – of Mother Nature finally awakening and showing her colors after the mostly dreary winter from which we just slogged our way into spring.

Visiting the market is a unique and welcome way to take a breather from rushing about during our work week. It is a place to reconnect with friends and neighbors, laugh a lot and enjoy the fresh air. The musical entertainment is top-notch as well. This week features Sheryl Stanton, folk singer, song writer from Somers CT.

The market will also feature a wide variety of flowering plants and cut flowers perfect for Mothers' Day along with a large selection of handcrafted items including jewelry, candles, soaps, bath and body products, etched glassware, bird houses, and artwork. Local farms will be offering beef, lamb, pork, chicken, dairy, eggs, honey, maple syrup and spring produce. The ever popular Fish Market will be returning with fresh catch right off the boats out of Stonington CT. A variety of baked goods and specialty foods will also be available. Visit the Ellington Farmers Market website at www.ellingtonfarmersmarket.com for a complete list of vendors, season schedule and to sign up for the weekly newsletter.
