The Ellington Farmers' Market continues to help low income families, seniors and WIX recipients through its matching programs. To date over $16,500 has been distributed at the market to help those in need purchase healthy local foods.

The market has extended its outdoor season to October 31st to allow for an additional two weeks to redeem Senior and WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program vouchers. The vouchers must be redeemed by the 31st.

Recipients of the vouchers simply present their coupon book at the main market booth to receive matching coupons. The matching coupons are solely sponsored by and redeemable only at the Ellington Farmers Market.

SNAP recipients can receive an additional $20 per week to shop for local and fresh items at the market. Customers simply present their EBT card at the market booth where up to $20 will be deducted from the card, and $40 in tokens will be received to shop for eligible food items. These tokens are only redeemable at the Ellington Farmers' Market. The tokens do not expire.

These matching programs are sponsored by the generosity of local businesses through the Market Partner program and individual contributions. The market is seeking additional contributions to continue to fund these programs and provide food security for area low income persons. Donations can be mailed to: Ellington Farmers' Market, 105 Pinnacle Rd., Ellington CT, 06029 or online.
