Ellington Historical Society To Create Time Capsule
Ellington Historical Society to capture and preserve the history of life changing pandemic through the eyes of Ellington residents.

The Covid-19 pandemic is the first major pandemic affecting the United States on such an extreme level since the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1918. In an effort to preserve the history of this life changing pandemic, the Ellington Historical Society is collecting items to be placed in a time capsule. They would like to capture, preserve, and share the current mood and tone of the beautiful town of Ellington during this unprecedented time in history.
The Nellie McKnight 2020 Time Capsule.
Submissions to be placed in Nellie’s Time Capsule is open to all Ellington residents and Ellington Historical Society members from across the country. People of all ages are welcome to write a reflection of what it is like to live during these weeks and months. What are your greatest fears, challenges, and hardships? What have you learned about yourself? Others? How has this changed you as a person? Typed or cursive anyone?

The Historical Society will also be looking for interesting newspaper headings: Journal Inquirer, Hartford Courant, Boston Globe, or New York Times front pages. Photos, drawings, etc., whatever moves you.
You can sign any documents you submit, or you may remain anonymous. The Historical Society hopes to have the opportunity to share the pieces and reflections later this summer, early fall or when safe to gather, as part of our Nellie’s Back Porch Celebrations, before being stored on the Nellie McKnight Museum property.
