Ellington Historical Society Sharing Stories - Recording History
Submit your experiences and feelings about living through the Covid 19 Pandemic to be included in "Nellies Time Capsule"

The Ellington Historical Society is seeking submissions to be included in "Nellie's Time Capsule". Life was already hectic with full-time careers, raising families, caring for elderly, maintaining a home and all the other things we do on a daily basis. Did you have any idea it was about to get crazier when the novel coronavirus pandemic hit? We are all being impacted by this crisis and are hearing the struggles and sometimes benefits from family and friends, parents of school age kids managing online school, and complete strangers. The Historical Society wants to give people the opportunity to record their lives during this difficult and unusual time. Let future generations know what life was like in 2020. Perhaps it may even help you to record what you have been going through. They have made a rubric to help guide you, but feel free to submit your thoughts in any way you choose.
Let future generations know what it was like during these difficult times.

Ellington Historical Society- Time Capsule Rubric
Here is a place to start…take a few notes.
- Hello, my name is… share a little background information about yourself, your family, and what life was like prior to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- How has life changed for you? What are some of the most difficult experiences you have faced? What was it like going to school “remotely?” What was it like as a parent having your children home? What was your daily routine? Was it difficult or did you learn something about yourself that surprised you?
- Did you face serious hardships? Did you know of anyone who lost their life due to this virus? Were any of your family members sick? Although sharing these anecdotes may be difficult, hopefully future generations may learn and be inspired by your inspiration, strength, and words.
- What was it like wearing a mask while out in public? Did you ever get used to it? Do you look forward to the day this is not necessary? What is it like to “social-distance?” Do you know anyone who made their own masks, and if so, what is it about the different masks that you like or dislike?
- Without a doubt, these have been very difficult times, what, if anything has been rewarding about these past several months? What did you learn about yourself that you never knew? How has your life changed? What do you think the future brings?
