Ellington To Host 13th Annual Winterfest Celebration
Festivities begin with a "Tree-Lighting Ceremony" with appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

ELLINGTON, CT - Santa and Mrs. Claus will be appearing at Ellington’s 13th annual Winterfest celebration, which will begin with a “Tree-Lighting Ceremony” on the Town Green gazebo bordering Maple and Main Streets (Rts. 140 and 286), and include many town-wide activities. The Winterfest will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, from 3:45 pm to 7:00 pm. Pictures can be taken with the Clauses, as well as Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer prior to the spectacular “Torchlight Parade”, which will be wend down Ellington’s Main St. (Rt. 286) at 5:15 p.m. Brightly festooned fire trucks from around Connecticut, holiday marchers, and the Kloter trolley will be part of the colorful parade.
Meanwhile, Hall Memorial Library will present holiday entertainment and treats; the Nellie McKnight Museum will be open Saturday, December 3rd, from 2:00-7:00 pm., featuring a picture display of “The Best of Ellington”, which includes past event such as ice harvesting; the Halladay windmill; Ellington Parrish Train Band, and 200 years of the McKnight museum building. The Ellington Congregational Church will be offering an a la carte (and inexpensive, child-friendly) dinner; and the Ellington Women’s Club will offer hot chocolate and cookies at the Town Annex (rear entrance) to the left of Town Hall on Main Street. Many other organizations are expected to join in the fun, so please check the local media for updates, as well as the town’s website at ellington-ct.gov. For another great treat, join us on the Friday evening of December 2nd, as The Ellington Singers will kick-off the Winterfest by presenting a fun-filled, sing-a-long concert of holiday music at Hall Memorial Library at 7:00 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served by the Friends of the Library afterward.
