Ellington Resident Performs with Josh Groban

He is part of the Eastern Connecticut State University Chamber Singers.

ELLINGTON, CT — The Chamber Singers at Eastern Connecticut State University performed with internationally known recording artist Josh Groban at the Mohegan Sun Arena on July 29.

Among the student singers was Ryan Michaud, (Class of 2019) of Ellington, who majors in music and performed before a crowd of nearly 10,000 people.

This was the second time Groban has asked the Chamber Singers to perform with him. The the first was this past fall when the ensemble accompanied him at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford.

"The hard work and dedication the ensemble demonstrated last fall left a lasting impression on Groban's crew," said David Belles, music professor and conductor of the Chamber Singers. "For that, the university is very proud of these students."

Participation in the Chamber Singers is not restricted to music majors. The ensemble consists of 20-to-25 auditioned singers who perform music from many genres and eras. An annual spring tour is a part of the experience that serves to bring music beyond the boundaries of the university, enrich the musical lives of audiences both near and far, and enhance the cultural experience for members of the ensemble while studying at Eastern.
