Farming Through the Years this Week's Theme at Ellington Farmers' Market

Enjoy the first-hand experiences of a farmer's wife in the "olden days", antiques trucks, tractors and farm equipment displays.

Saturday June 25th 9-12 in Arbor Park

The Ellington Farmers' Market theme for this week is Farming Through the Years, a look back at farming techniques, tools and equipment used in days gone by. The Ellington Historical Society will present "The Farmer's Wife" where you can enjoy the first-hand experiences of a farmer's wife in the "olden days". Kids can churn some butter, beat a rug and use a washboard as part of the activities planned for the morning. In addition there will be a variety of antique trucks, tractors, farm equipment and engines to explore. There will be lots of new produce this week as the crops have begun to mature including five kinds of summer squash along with cucumbers, beets, fresh pack pickles and cucumber salad to name a few. The market hosts 40 vendors providing farm produce and meats, seafood, specialty foods, baked goods and artisan wares.

Musical entertainment

This week's musical entertainment will be provided by Poor Richard, a local quartet playing a wide variety of traditional Irish, American and French Canadian fiddle and vocal tunes as well as an eclectic mix of more contemporary covers. The quartet delights its audience with guitar, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and four part vocals. Bring your chairs to sit under the trees and enjoy a morning of music.
